I've also tried editing the esp through creation kit to non essential but none donut works.
I've tried doing it via console, through UFO and the amulet of arkay mod that allows me to change people to non-essential with no luck. I got the recorder follower mod and I'm trying to change her to non-essential but nothing seems to work.
